Memorial University of Newfoundland is Atlantic Canada's premiere comprehensive university and one of the region's most important research facilities. Because of their commitment to providing educational opportunities to rural and remote areas of the province, Memorial University has become a leader in distance education through its Distance Education and Learning Technologies (DELT) division.

Though it has been an integral part of this public institution for more than 30 years, DELT's entrepreneurial mandate allows it to actively solicit external contract work.

The division began by providing continuing education and professional development opportunities to teachers in remote regions of the province. As a leader in the evolution of communications technology, DELT now annually includes an increasing number of international students among its 13,000 registrants.
